Born on January 5, 1946 in Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto. Born into a family of Japanese embroiderers called “Nuniya”, he began working in the family business in 1961 at the age of 15. At the age of 20, he learned kimono design from Kaoru Matsuo, a kimono designer, and at the age of 26, he learned sketching and watercolor painting from Mutsuko Kuwano, a Nitten painter. At the age of twenty-nine, he entered the Kyoto City Traditional Crafts Competition. Since then, he has participated in the Kyoto City Exhibition, Kyoto Prefecture Koubi (arts and crafts) Exhibition, Japan Traditional Crafts Kinki Exhibition, Japan Traditional Crafts Dyeing Exhibition, Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition, Silk Museum Dyeing and Weaving Exhibition, Kyoto Crafts Biennale, International Textile Competition, and other publicly solicited exhibitions. He has received many awards and prizes. In 1985, he was selected for the 32nd Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition for the first time. Became an associate member. In 1989, he was approved as a regular member of the Japan Crafts Association. Became a regular member of the Japan Crafts Association. He is the president of Morinui, a Japanese embroidery atelier.
